"Better than one-on-one training?" A pretty bold claim, I'll admit, especially coming from someone who spent the last 11 years training thousands of clients, one-on-one, as a full-time master level Certified Personal Trainer.

 

Hello, my name is Dianne Orwig, founder and creator of the Living Fit Program. I hope you will take a moment to read the story of one of my very successful and very satisfied clients, Niamh (pronounced "Neve") McMahon.

 
Like so many, when I first met Niamh, she was working very hard to maintain a fit and lean body, but despite her dedication to good nutrition and exercise, it appeared that everything she had heard about fitness after 40 was beginning to ring true: once you pass a certain age, there are some things that just won't budge.
 

After following my LivingFit Online™ program for 12 short weeks, this 43 year old wife and mother of two is now in the best shape of her life, with a body that most 18 year old women would die for! Overcame her need to please others!

Meet Dina – a 5’6”- 33 year old wife and homemaker with two children.  When we first met, Dina explained that she had never lost weight in her life nor had she ever tried. She had only gained – about 5 pounds a year since high school. She had never given nutrition much thought because her parents had always taught her that skinny people were unhealthy compared to their “comfortably plump” counterparts. As far as fitness, her husband was always showering her with complements about her curves so she never wanted to do anything that might change that.

Then one day, something snapped. She looked in the mirror and suddenly saw all the reasons she had let herself go. She realized that she had allowed everyone else to decide what she should want and how she should look. In that moment, she knew what she wanted most and it was not what she saw glaring back at her in the mirror.

Dina lost a total of 37 pounds and 9% body fat over 24 weeks. While she endeavored to follow the LivingFit plan to the letter, often she would tell me (almost every time we trained) that her biggest obstacle was not her own activity, but everyone else’s opinion about what she was doing. A large part of our training included helping Dina release the myth of sabotage and take full responsibility for when she worked out and how she chose to feed herself. She learned that, in addition to having a solid food and workout plan, she had to have an even clearer plan when it came the dealing with family, friends, co-workers, temptation, interference and saboteurs – all of which she faced every day – just like you and me.

She is a beautiful example of what can be achieved when you combine faith, patience, consistency and perseverance. She also proved that cellulite more about gravity and body fat than it is biology or genetics. As I have witnessed countless times over, when the weight of the fat at the top of the body lightens up, so does the cottage cheese… Great job Dina! 



Let go of her need for fast foods and quick fixes!

Meet Denise – a 5’5”- 26 year old surgical nurse from Canada who, before we met, had struggled with her weight her entire life. After moving to the United States to work as a cardiac surgical assistant, she admitted falling into a vicious loop of work, eat, sleep, work, eat, sleep; a loop that revolved around convenient stores and drive-thru restaurants. It finally hit her when, for the second time in six months, she was forced to order yet another set of scrubs - the largest ones yet. She knew it was time to take control of what she was doing to her health and her body.  When we began her training program she weighed in at 157 pounds and 31% body fat.

From the start, Denise embraced the “less works better” mentality. Having never followed a formal exercise program before, she expressed her relief in knowing, with absolute confidence, that she wasn’t going to have to starve or spend long hours in the gym to get the results she was looking for. She committed to the 12 weeks and went on to become one of the best examples of what can happen when you simply “trust and do.”

She followed The LivingFit Online™ system to the letter, strength training two days per week (Mon-Wed), performed three WAVE® cardio sessions Tue-Thurs-Sun, and on Saturday was free to eat or do whatever she chose. Denise is a true testament to the power and importance of taking one day off a week, a day we refer to as “Opt Day.” On that day, clients are free to do whatever makes them feel best. This gave Denise the choice to either indulge in her cravings or eat clean, take a brisk walk or relax on the beach. This freedom not only kept her body and mind from falling into “diet-sacrifice-deprivation mode,” it also taught her the most important lesson of all - true fitness isn’t about following rules, it’s about following your body’s natural rhythms and waves.

She ended her 12-Week LivingFit Transformation at 138 and 23% body fat, losing a total of 19 pounds and 8% body fat. Her average weight loss was 1.10 pounds per week for the first eight weeks and then her averages went up to 1.58 by the end of the 12 weeks.

This gradual increase in average scale loss from week to week is a common trend that many people experience using the LivingFit Online™ program. Unlike “quick fix” diet programs and “jump start” exercise regimens where the “big” results occur in the first few days and weeks, then taper off (what is commonly referred to as the plateau,) loyal followers of the LivingFit Online™ program experience a gradual but continual acceleration in their numbers as they move through the program. Did Less Work - Got Better Results Than Ever!

Meet Tony – a 5’10”- 49 year old investment analyst, who I met at my annual Fresh-Air Fit Fair three Summers ago. Tony came to me, like many of my clients, frustrated because “nothing was working.” His goal, like so many, was to build muscle and lose fat, but despite spending countless hours in the gym and following every diet known to man, he finally resolved that, “It’s all downhill after 40,” and just gave up.

 

When we first sat down together, I heard Tony describe all the ways he had tried to change… heavy lifting five to six days a week; long bouts of distance running...and starvation. Low fat and low carbs had helped him shed a few pounds but, invariably, they always returned with a few extra pounds to boot.

 

I explained that it wasn’t so much WHAT he was doing that was to blame (although it wasn’t all that great.) The majority of his difficulties had to do with his APPROACH.  So, we began by asking this question, “What are the three basic habits you would attribute to your professional and personal success?” Aside from a flourishing business, Tony has also been happily married for over 30 years. Here’s what he came up with:

 

1)     He never left anything to chance. If there was an important meeting to attend, or if his wife’s birthday was coming up, it was down on paper, in the calendar, with a time-bound plan behind it.

2)     He constantly practiced in his mind exactly how each event would play out before it happened. If he was meeting with a difficult client, he would visualize all of it turning out in his favor. He would mentally move through every verbal exchange, every detail of the encounter, always imagining a favorable outcome.

3)     He always carried his tools of the trade; cell phone, lap top, brief case… everything he would need to be completely self-sufficient and independent.

 

We then took these variables and applied them to his fitness and nutrition routine. The results were nothing short of AMAZING! Here is how his three “professional success” habits contributed to his fitness success:

 

1)     He never left anything to chance. If he had a workout scheduled or it was time to eat, it was down on paper, in the calendar, with a time-bound plan behind it.

2)     He constantly practiced in his mind exactly how each exercise routine would play out before it happened. If he was facing a difficult leg workout he would visualize all of it turning out in his favor. He would mentally move through every set, every rep, every meal, always imagining a favorable outcome.

3)     He always carried his tools of the trade - an Igloo filled with portion controlled meals, ready to drink shakes, boiled egg whites, fruit, cottage cheese and yogurt, plastic utensils, napkins and blue ice to keep it all cold… everything he would need to be completely self-sufficient and independent.

 

In 12 weeks Tony, lost a total of 17 pounds of body fat and added 6 pounds of muscle. Best of all, he built a successful fitness and nutrition routine grounded exclusively in the LivingFit Online™ principles and the professional APPROACH! Turned her back on plastic surgery!

Meet Tammy, a 5’6” 36 year old house wife with three children. I remember the day Tammy came into my office at the gym “just to chat.” She explained she had been working with a trainer at a local studio for about a year. Her regimen included three days of intense training sessions per week and seven days of cardio - 30 minutes on strength training days and one hour on her “off” days.

 

She was clearly frustrated and explained that it seemed no matter how hard she worked, she just couldn’t squeeze that last little bit of flab from around her middle, thighs, and the back of her arms (all the “trouble” areas.) She had decided earlier that morning to make an appointment with a well-known plastic surgeon in town to have it all “taken care of” once and for all. Thankfully, her husband suggested that she come in to see me before she scheduled surgery.

 

I challenged her to give me 12 weeks. At first she was skeptical, especially when I told her that the first thing we would do was scale back her workouts. How, she reasoned, could that ever work??? I explained that if she agreed to do everything I asked, I was certain that at the end of the 12 weeks, not only would I be able to save her a lot of pain and suffering (not to mention some cash), I was sure she would be forever grateful to me for preventing her from risking her healthy, beautiful body with the invasive surgeries she was planning to undergo.

 

In 12 weeks, Tammy’s scale moved only 3.5 pounds – in fact, despite the fact that she was clearly changing, I was forced at one point to ask her to step on the scale backwards when weighing in so she couldn’t see the numbers. Slowly, as the inches began melting away, so did her skepticism.

 

Tammy finally achieved the sleek, athletic, sexy look she had been working so hard to achieve - all with less of the wrong work and more of the right food. "The Merrill Lynch office I manage in Gainesville has 28 employees.
